There are four references to God in the Declaration of Independence:
"... Laws of Nature and of Nature's God..."
"... endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..."
"... appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions..."
"... with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence... "
If you've ever read this document, you must come to the conclusion that as a nation, we are not the same sort of people who wrote it. We are very different in character, intentions, fortitude and probably many other ways as well.
